Student Resources:
- Guidelines for Reading Philosophy [file]
- I put together a handout outlining a guide to reading philosophical texts. It is based largely on (i) Pryor's helpful guide, (ii) David Concepcion's article in Teaching Philosophy, and (iii) my own experiences in literacy instruction as a special educator in a New York City public school. The handout outlines a number of strategies that aim at developing metacognitive skills in reading philosophy, and is followed up with a series of practice exercises employing some of the strategies. Examples: [Exercise 1] [Exercise 2] [Exercise 3] [Exercise 4]
